Long story short, he was at a work do. Black tie event. Didn't get home til 6am. Was in a casino apparently. AIBU to be thinking that's a bit OTT and if tables were turned there would be a raised eyebrow? Or am I the killjoy? Fuming.

Does he have work today? Family responsibilities? Is he incapable?

sunsetsandboardwalks · 26/09/2024 06:53

It's a bit late but as a one-off I'm not sure I'd be too bothered by it.

HelloCheekyCat · 26/09/2024 06:55

I'd be more worried about being in a casino than the 6am arrival home, we went to one on a work night out years ago & one bloke rinsed through £500 in minutes

antlead · 26/09/2024 06:55

what’s the long story? 🫤

TinySaltLick · 26/09/2024 06:56

Depends how much he won!

Notdeckingthehalls · 26/09/2024 07:00

Is he going to be handling heavy machinery today or not pulling his weight with the kids?

geoger · 26/09/2024 07:00

Sounds like a one off so don’t let it bother you. If he has work today it’s his problem if he’s tired or hung over

K0OLA1D · 26/09/2024 07:03

If it was a regular thing then you'd have a point. But as a one off it's nothing I'd get worked up about. Unless he just gambled away £££££

antlead · 26/09/2024 07:03

waiting for the inevitable 💧

Tel12 · 26/09/2024 07:04

Hope he wasn't chasing his losses.

crumblingschools · 26/09/2024 07:05

Hope he isn’t driving. Did he let you know he would be very late home?

ThisTimeNextWeekDavid · 26/09/2024 07:06

One off work event? I couldn’t get upset about it.

I’d chuckle at the state of him and chuck him some water, paracetamol and toast and crack on with my day - even if it meant I had to deal with unexpected child care issues etc.

Regular / repeated problem and my response would differ.

jannier · 26/09/2024 07:14

I'd be more worried about the bank balance

Tbskejue · 26/09/2024 07:18

As a one off I’d be surprised but not annoyed; and also slightly envious that he has the stamina to be out all night as I do not

Mrsttcno1 · 26/09/2024 07:20

Agree with others as a one off I wouldn’t be bothered about this. Not sure I would even notice the time unless the Ring doorbell grassed him up!

PinkyFlamingo · 26/09/2024 07:20

You've left out a lot of information such as why you are fuming? And the bit about the tables being turned what's all that about?

Windrainandsnow · 26/09/2024 07:22

You say in a casino " apparently " OP.
Sounds as though you don't really believe him. Have you reason to think he is lying?

If it was a casino I'd be worried about the money spent.

If you think he's lying I'd be very worried about where he really was.

This.

Personally it’s not something I’d brush off.

Doggymummar · 26/09/2024 07:25

My work dos used to be like this. As a one off I wouldn't be worried.

ColdPlayy · 26/09/2024 07:27

What's the actual issue?

XiCi · 26/09/2024 07:28

Why are you fuming? Unless this was happening all the time I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest. Both myself and DH have blow outs from time to time. Completely normal and no big deal.

Cosycover · 26/09/2024 07:33

Do you not believe him?

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 26/09/2024 07:44

As a one off, not an issue for me.
