To worry about this stomach pain??

I’ve had a dull ache in my tummy for over a week now it started mid abdomen near the belly button and then to the right, I worried about a grumbling appendix but the pain radiates to the left too. The pain goes from niggly to sharp and intense in waves. I have also noticed I am pooping a lot more than normal, so if ‘normal’ is once a day I am going at least four times each day and once through the night. It’s normal when I go, no constipation or diarrhoea.

The pain is starting to wake me at night now and I’m feeling generally unwell, tired and lacking energy. I will be trying to get into the doctors tomorrow but wondering if anyone has any similar experience and what it was causing it. I have health anxiety and starting to think the worst! Thanks x

It could be a million things. Why don't you make a GP appointment. Nobody here can talk you what it is and changes to BM should be checked out in any case.

We need a new topic - Health Anxiety.

Thanks for replying, I did say in my post that I will be making an appt at the doctors tomorrow and just wanted to know if anyone had experienced similar symptoms. I understand I won’t be diagnosed via mumsnet - just rather ask real people than google my symptoms 🙈

Three members of my family (not living together) have had similar. Two went to hospital with the appendicitis concern (one of these didn't even have an appendix as had previously burst & been removed, but said pain was exactly like previous appendix symptoms)
All bloods/ultrasounds fine and after a few weeks, all three family members back to normal.
I wonder if there's a bug doing the rounds.

There are a lot of things it could be. You absolutely need a medical examination and ideally bloods taken as well. It could be anything from gastritis, an ulcer, or just indigestion, all the way up to things like endometriosis that you wouldn't otherwise expect. Bloods and physical exam will rule out the worst cases quickly.

That said, I wouldn't "worry" unduly unless you suddenly get so called red flag symptoms. If you start vomiting a lot, see blood in your stool (including sticky black dried blood, not just red), or suffer excruciating 8/10 or above pain, you should go to A&E there and then. If it's just a dull ache and going a lot, you still need to see a doctor, but it's not likely to be an emergency.

@DonnaBanana thank you for your reassuring words. It’s definitely not reached an 8/10 pain. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago for endo so thankfully not that. I have had a lot of heartburn and acid lately that I didn’t quite link with the stomach pain so that interesting. Thanks again, hopefully I’ll get a GP appt tomorrow.

@HurrahWuff thanks for sharing, how long ago was this? It does sound like it could be a bug to be fair especially with the kids starting back school recently and no doubt bringing home some kind of lurgy!

One family member pain just finished last weekend. The other a few weeks before. (They didn't have contact with each other) The third person had it over summer. Lasted 2-3 weeks for all. Hope that's 'all' it is for you too! Flowers
