Is this mould, dirt or what?

Viewing a house and one of the bedrooms walls was like this, obviously needs painting, but concerned a sort of darkening of the walls could be mould? Or is it just dirty/needs painting?

It just looks like the ceiling used to be a darker colour and they’ve (badly) painted over it to me. It’s blue, rather than grey/black.

Just looks like a dodgy paint job opposed to damp or mould.

I agree - dodgy paint job. What did it smell like in the room? If this was mould it would have smelt very unpleasant.

It doesn’t smell of mould, but the white part of the wall sort of looks a bit dark/dirty
