To not want my cooking interfered with

I do the majority of food shopping and cooking. When I'm cooking dinner, DP will sometimes walk in towards the later stages and ask to exclude a certain ingredient (tonight's example was pesto in a tomato based sauce) or do something differently like cooking something with a lid off. I find this annoying interference. I already learnt many new recipes and adapted my cooking to meet their dietary requirements. I implied they can cook their own food if they don't want to eat what I cook. DP thinks this is unkind and I would be much more accommodating to a guest which there is some truth in but the regularity of it is different.

Your partner can keep his helpful tips to himself or he can do the cooking. He's rude and obnoxious. Don't stand for it.

When it’s their turn to cook, they can decide what to do. The only caveat would be if it’s something they don’t like.

I'd turn it all off, walk away and sort myself out if he does it again. Tell him you're going to do this tonight so if he does it tomorrow he knows the consequences but stick to them.

Did you know you can get full length child/dog gates for kitchen doors? It sounds like you need one. Or an electric fence.

I would be bubbling more than the pesto tomato sauce at this! So rude!

Ifailed · 18/09/2024 21:14

Drop tools and tell him to fucking do it.

Birdscratch · 18/09/2024 21:19

Put a lock on the kitchen door.
