Someone is sitting outside my house idling their engine. Not directly outside, I can't see them, they must be sitting outside next door.

🤬🤬🤬

Just ask them to turn their engine off

Just ask them to turn their engine off

I can't see that going well!
From experience the type of people who think it reasonable to sit for ages with their engines idling aren't the type of people who take kindly to be asked to turn the engine off!

Skyrainlight · 12/09/2024 17:05

Maybe the heater is on because it's cold.

JanglingJack · 12/09/2024 17:12

Not outside your house, not causing you a problem. Engine likely to be idling longer if you stab their tyre.

Read that back and see if you think you are reasonable.

Help for anger and violence is available.

Janeir0 · 12/09/2024 17:13

Is this post for real? I'd suggest you try anger management.

Allfur · 12/09/2024 17:15

I ask people to turn their engines off all the time, if you're cold wear a coat

TheGoddessFreyja · 12/09/2024 17:16

Maybe this person has the engine on as they are charging their phone as they are lost? people need to mind their own business 🙄

Toottooot · 12/09/2024 17:18

Simmer doon min.

Idling engines are all our business, given we are affected by the fumes

CheshireDing · 12/09/2024 17:18

It's not that cold that they need to air there with the heater on, maybe they should wear a coat if so 🤔

It annoys me, I have knocked on car windows before I tell people their engine should be off

LadyWiddiothethird · 12/09/2024 17:18

It’s illegal! You can receive a fixed penalty notice for it.

Allfur · 12/09/2024 17:20

And its an offence

MouseofCommons · 12/09/2024 17:21

Yanbu. Scummy people who idle do my head in. I do tell them sometimes but they've always been too thick to care its illegal.

I take photos and email the relevant school, council parking team and CSPO officer.

Han1978 · 12/09/2024 17:22

That is so annoying!!

Allfur · 12/09/2024 17:25

People who idle are the sort of people who throw litter out of their cars

Emeralpies · 12/09/2024 17:37

People idling their engines when stationary drives me potty. It's antisocial and inconsiderate as well as being an offence. I was seething the other day when a van had been parked outside our house with the engine running for at least thirty minutes so get where you're coming from OP. There's absolutely no need for it.

Allfur · 12/09/2024 17:39

But apparently you're meant to put up with it and 'simmer down'

Whatisyourfavouriteflower · 12/09/2024 18:05

Allfur · 12/09/2024 17:15

I've asked someone in the past and all I got was abuse.
I admire you for doing it.

Seething 😂

Blushingm · 12/09/2024 18:22

And this affects you how????

TeaAndCakeFTW · 12/09/2024 22:58

It was filling my house with fumes and I had to fucking listen to it

Like a mad woman I have been known to rise from my bed, don dressing gown and slippers and swiftly go outside into the culdesac, in the early hours, to tell some silly c*w to cut her diesel engine!
She was sat there chatting to her mate. Not on my watch was she going to do that again!
