Buying 3 sofas - what colours should they be? Pic included

Dh and I are moving into our dream home. We have lived in really horrible circumstances saving up for this moment so I am overthinking everything.

We have never bought a sofa (relied on hand me downs). So are now planning what we will buy. The kitchen has a lovely big diner/kitchen/living extension.

I really want a statement sofa maybe from Loaf or somewhere similar. I have attached ones that I like. But what should I do for the other two sofas? I like the idea of a contrast. Maybe one of those linen loose cover ones which you can machine wash. But is that bland? Dh is saying we go for a plain, colour and pattern but that seems crazy

What do you think?

I read a thread on here about Loaf sofas the other day and every single person said they hated theirs.

Where will you put your table?

Oh really? They were going to be my treat to myself. They’re so bloody gorgeous

Where will you put your table?

I’ve drawn the sofas incorrectly - they should be closer together and closer to the right hand side wall. There is currently a large table between the island and seating area

Leather Chesterfield style maybe? Whatever the contrast just go very neutral coloured. Think it will look lovely!

mitogoshi · 11/09/2024 20:13

I would suggest that you get washable covers because any furniture in a cooking area can take on smells, oils etc. with the best extractor it still gets into the air

Or a bold contrasting pattern like attached

Never go plain if you're going to be eating near them! Patterned all the way and preferably in a stain resistant fabric.

Yes this - fabric will absorb every smell - also leave space for storage cupboards etc - I'd go one sofa and maybe a comfy chair

StripeyDeckchair · 11/09/2024 20:40

I'd go for one patterned sofa, one bold colour and one more muted colour.
Maybe a multi stripe and a mustard/gold and a French navy (if blue is to be your base colour)

But I like colour and hate the predominance of grey and neutrals
