That this made me feel a bit small?

I don't really know what to put as the title but it need make me feel a bit like that.

I started a new job today as an administrator in an office. There is a few administrators in the team. I was left to the fill out some forms. I was told to come and find the assistant manager straight away if I needed help or to let them know I was done with the forms. I noticed the assistant manager down the corridor so I walked down and I don't think they saw me and they went into a room. Another member of staff was stood speaking on the phone, outside the room that the assistant manager went into. I stood there for a moment as I was about to knock for the assistant manager as advised and the member of staff looked at me and then went into the room that AM was in and shut the door in my face, leaving me standing there. Would you find this rude?

Yes, that sounds rude to me!

I hope you had a good first day otherwise.

Likely the individual had agreed to meet with your asst manager and was just finishing a call - a bit rude they didn’t say anything such as “ Asst Manager has asked to see me now I’ll be about 15 minutes “ or similar

Not sure it’s possible for us to say! Shutting the door in your face does sound rude, yes. Is it possible it was a misunderstanding and they didn’t realise you were intending to knock? If they were heading to a prearranged meeting with the assistant manager they wouldn’t assume you were going to the same room.

Even if it was deliberate, I do think you’re giving too much thought to a minor thing. Congratulations on the new job, and I hope the rest of the week goes well!
