I am resident parent to Dd (8) but her dad is very involved and paying more than fairly on that side of things.

She is starting her second year at school this week and class size is now 38. She doesn’t seem to be enjoying it. I know it’s only the start of the term but it was like this all last couple of years. There are no facilities at the school and I am yet to meet a teacher who seems interested in her development, I guess it’s hard with so many kids. Whilst I know she isn’t needing to learn academically right now, I can just tell this very busy environment doesn’t suit her.

the dilemma… I have saved manically the last four years to pay off the last 120k of my mortgage. The mortgage is due to be renewed in March and I have enough now to just pay it off come that time.

I now feel hugely conflicted. If I use the savings to pay for her school, ex has said he will pay the other half. This means my 120 would cover my share for the foreseeable, even factoring in increases and VAT.

has anyone used private school and felt it worth it? I’ve always been sceptical as I didn’t go myself and have done ok in life and enjoyed school. But I am worried for her now and just don’t know what to do.
