Pottering around doing chores, fancied a bit of chocolate. Opened a bar while having a quick scroll on Mumsnet and…had a proper snaccident! Reached for another square and we'll, squares there were none!!!

A very rare occasion for me to buy chocolate but happened to see a bag of 'sharing' twirl bites while in tesco after finishing work so on a whim, picked up a bag. Opened them in the car for journey home from work...6 miles/20 mins max...said to myself I'll just have a few. Scoffed the whole bag before I'd got home. Didn't feel sick either. đŸ˜‘ đŸ™„

I do this with crisps. If I pop a few on a plate and put the bag away all is well, but if I take the bag with me to the sofa I end up having double or triple what I would have had so now I always try to pop my treats on a plate for portion control. Every now and then I can't be arsed to dirty a plate and I then learn why it's necessary for me to dirty the plate.

We had many varieties of biscuits at work last week (gift from satisfied ‘customer’)
I’d been highly restrained for weeks due to high cholesterol. I think I had about 9 biscuits (underestimating!)

on the subject of plates/portion control I use small ramekins for snacks and often buy small individual packs of snacks. In theory it’s more expensive than the big bags - but in reality it’s not as I am more restrained with a pre measured amount.

LOL probably every day đŸ˜‚

pudseypie · 08/09/2024 20:54

I had a snaccident with some unsalted peanuts today. Not compatible with my Crohn's disease unfortunately, so fully regretting it now, although they were lovely and very moreish!

Snaccident, huh. Great word @Waytoomanycoasters .
Eyes almost totally empty packet of jelly babies. That's right, jelly babies! New addiction.

Askhole! Excellent. đŸ˜‚
Weirdly, my jelly baby addiction ( indeed also packet jelly and wine gums) appeared out of nowhere after having covid and at the same time having developed an aversion to porridge, which I used to have for breakfast every single day. I've just had to embrace the fact that I can no longer tolerate porridge but need regular doses of jelly-like substances. Totes weird.

Well I've just eaten three Fry's orange creams & a bag of dolly mixtures watching TV. It was no accident though. Hope that helps đŸ˜‚

Bravo for enjoying your snack with mindful glee!! This was my intention, instead I absent mindedly scoffed it đŸ˜‚

Veggie/vegan wine gums or gummy sweets (waves to Colin the Caterpillar) are my downfall. I have to eat the whole bag. The chewiness is just so addictive.

noctilucentcloud · 08/09/2024 22:01

A type of crisps I really like was in my local supermarket last weekend, it'll be months before they'll be back in so I bought 3 bags (sharing style) thinking I'd save them to enjoy. Nope, ate all 3 bags in 4 days.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 08/09/2024 22:02

I bought the Aldi ‘marmite’ coated cashews and almonds. Practically inhaled the bag…lethal.

I was engulfed in a wave of nostalgia for Fry's chocolate creams, and I don't even like chocolate.

Oooooh, jelly babies are my favourites sweets. And fruit jellies.

I have discovered that the bars of Cadbury Dime that are usually around £1.50 slot very nicely into my phone pouch. So I can come home empty handed and no sign of chocolate about my person. Then I can beetle off into my work room and eat my booty without having to share. There is no such thing as sharing chocolate, regardless of what some plonker has printed on the wrapping.

Chilli and Lemon Grills from the World Food Aisle in Tesco.

A packet has never made it from the car into the house. The very definition of a car snaccident.
