Except he's blocked on all messaging platforms. Every now and then he will get in contact another way. We make light conversation, then he'll take something I've said the wrong way and it all kicks off again and then there's no contact again for another while. Why is he lying? 😐

Just block him and stop giving him the satisfaction he craves.

Why are you both entertaining messaging like this on and off it’s not healthy for either of you. If you have no kids or house to sort etc then just go no contact and move on.
Aside from that who cares what he’s telling people, if it’s a mutual acquaintance then they should remain impartial anyway.
