Brother never keeps in touch

Brother never sees us, comes to family gatherings, nothing.
very rare messages.
he has a son no who none of the family haven’t seen for nearly two years.
live not too far away.
I have asked him why we don’t do family things and how upsetting it is.
no reply.
his fiancé doesn’t like keeping in touch.
its so sad.
Hard to understand how people behave like this. Wrapped up in their own little word.
no thinking about others.

What do you think he would say is his side of the story?

StressedQueen · 06/09/2024 20:56

I mean I understand how upsetting that can be. But there must be a reason for him to decide this. And if he is choosing to raise his son and family away from you, there is not a lot you can do. It is unfair to say he is wrapped in his own world and has no thought for others as he shouldn't have to come to family gatherings and allow you to see his son if he and his family don't think that is best. He probably has a social life outside of you. I seriously doubt he'd be completely ignoring you all without a proper reason. Obviously he might just be a prick but.

NuffSaidSam · 06/09/2024 20:57

That reads like a poem.

ForeverPombear · 06/09/2024 20:58

I can understand why you're upset but he will have his reasons, whether you agree with them or not it is upto him.

buffaloten · 06/09/2024 21:00

He never says anything. So we are none the wiser.
he is the same with everyone in the family.
never sees anyone.
last saw him few months ago and he just sat in separate room not saying anything.
they are excluding themselves. Obvious that’s their business though hard to understand when we have never come across this behaviour before

Well was he happy to talk to you when you were younger?? Or were there issues there then. It seems very strange to me that he just sits there not saying a word and all of you somehow have no idea what is going on

Cookiecrumblepie · 06/09/2024 21:08

He doesn’t like you and your family. I would just move on

He is ignoring us all without any reason which is why we are baffled by his behaviour.
oh yes a complete p like his father. But I wouldn’t dare say such a thing to him.
we have never quarrelled and never will.
it’s just sad we can’t see the little boy.
do you know when you just know something is up…I think with my brother. Something just not right mentally,
but I just haveto accept it and be there for him for when never he may need us

DHs family could've written this about him. He had very clear reasons for it but none of them cared to find out. As such we don't speak to any of them anymore.

he is very much like our father.
and does need to be careful as a relative said recently he is behaving like him but Jayne not realising it.
thing is then family will start distancing themselves

Yes though he has always been very quiet. Maybe he does find it easier just with his fiancé and child doing things together.
i just think it’s selfish not allowing rest of the family to spent time with their nephew, cousin, grandson

He did ask me years ago to stop contacting his fiancé with messages and photos. Just general things with baby photos etc
that sent alarm bells ringing.
welrd

I'd respect that then

TomatoSandwiches · 06/09/2024 21:26

Just leave him alone, he isn't interested and doesn't want his son around you or yours.

Focus on your immediate family or people around that value you.
