Posting here mainly for traffic (sorry). My daughter is 17 next week but will be flying to Spain to see her dad at October half term. Does anyone know any hotels at Heathrow that would take an Under 18 please? I have googled but I am getting mixed messages so wondered if anyone here had personal experience. Happy to consider any terminal as I know it’s easy to travel between.

Have you tried calling the hotels? I’d likely focus on the hotels directly inside the airport terminals and see if there’s a program for unaccompanied minors. They may have exceptions for that.

Thank you for replying. Yes I’ve called some but some of the receptionists I speak to don’t seem to be 100per cent sure when answering. I was just wondering if anyone had any personal experience . 😊

While I’m not a big fan of Twitter, you might get a clearer response from a company there, than from the particular hotel.

That aside, would the hotel know she’s 17? I can’t remember the last time I had to show a passport at a hotel, and if she has a debit card for payment/extras, she’d be all set. (Appreciate you might want concrete reassurance, rather than ‘it’ll be fine’ from an internet random.)

Sorry OP, but from a quick googling, Holiday Inn, Prermier Inn, and several other chains are all minimum 18 unless with an over 18.

Suggestion - I would book and pre-pay. Sofitel at T5 is a nice hotel and directly connected to the airport. Your daughter can check in with the reservation email and say that her parent is arriving later.

Yabu.

@Battyasfeck the aerotel website says ‘ CAN CHILDREN CHECK IN TO A HOTEL?
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (aged 18 or over). Children below the age of 18 may stay alone in any hotel subject to local laws, approval of legal guardians who must authorized the stay along with the necessary document required to support the request. In some countries the legal age will vary. Please email the property for further information.

I would find one that has contactless check in. A lot of premier inns for example use the machine to check in. I’ve booked these for my 17 year old DS a couple of times. None of them will confirm they will allow a minor to check in.

I work in a chain hotel with an 18 policy and we have asked for ID before when someone looks young. In my hotel I know you could book a double room for you and her and check in with her. Then you could leave the hotel and she is left on her own, no one would know or bat an eyelid as long as she isn't silly or loud. Checkout is a keybox, she wouldn't need to speak to anyone

Battyasfeck · 07/09/2024 18:39

Thanks all… I am tempted to just book her in one (like the Sofitel or Premier inn) but I’m just so scared of being caught (I’m a rule follower). 🤦🏽‍♀️ Appreciate the responses though .

Is there any reason why you can't stay the night with her & see her off at the airport?
As she's just turned 17, I'd be a little wary about letting her stay overnight in a hotel alone. Just too many weirdos about.

I'm travelling to Europe next week and flying from terminal 2 so checking into the premier Inn Heathrow Bath Rd. There are shuttle buses direct to the terminals from there.

Could you get to her if they don’t let her check in? That would be my only concern. I’ve only booked for my DS when I know I could name change and him in if they did stop him.
