To take my laptop to the bog

My partner and I both WFH. My partner talks incessantly, but graciously allows me the occasional toilet break.

Would I be unreasonable to take my laptop to the bathroom with me so I can get some work done for 10 minutes?

How can your partner talk incessantly? Doesn’t he have any actual work to do?

Have you got a polythene cover for your keyboard?

Get some noise cancelling headphones.

The problem is that verbal diarrhoea, much like actual diarrhoea, does not respond well to you trying to hold it in.

Can't you sit in separate rooms? That would absolutely kill me. It's also rude as fuck if he can't respect the fact that you're working.

So he's cheating both his employer and yours of a productive work day? Because he is utterly self-absorbed and controlling?

Tell him you are struggling with the talking as it's distracting you from your work so you are going to wear earphones and play some music

I agree with PPs wear earphones even if nothing is playing to shut him up. He sounds beyond inconsiderate and annoying.

Why doesn't he understand that you've got work to do? Has he got one of those namby pamby jobs where he's got nothing much to do and no integrity?

You don't adjust to accommodate his selfishness. It's him who has to change.

Just tell him no?
