To ask what these spots are

Hi all, my son has developed 4 spots along his arm, and 1 on his leg, that we assumed were mosquito bites but now my eldest has got 2 on his bottom. They are itchy. No other symptoms, we have taken temperature, no cough, lethargy, nothing. They have both had chicken pox already and we haven't travelled anywhere unusual. No new washing powders etc. We did wonder about Molluscum Contagium but the spots aren't domed shape.
Shamelessly posting on aibu for traffic.
Any idea what they could be?

They look like bites.

Might be fleas?

Mosquito bites

Could be bed bugs. Have you travelled anywhere recently? Check under the mattress and along the creases. Bed bugs are about the size of an apple pip.

I'd put my money on insect bites of some sort.
Mossies, fleas, bedbugs...

Lovehappychildren · 06/09/2024 16:05

We have travelled. Urgh, makes me feel sick that it could be bed bugs! I will check when I am home. How would I even get rid of them?!

They definitely look like some sort of insect bite.

The fact that one of your kids has them on his bum doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bedbug bites (and they don’t look like them to me). Mosquitoes and gnats can easily get caught up in a bed sheet or clothes without you realising, or it could have landed on him when he was getting changed or had just stepped out of the shower - it takes a nanosecond for them to actually bite.

And some biting insects can even bite through certain clothes (as I have discovered to my cost when I wore leggings in a very insecty location).

Red ants also bite, and while they don’t usually leave much of a mark, some people do react more badly to them. Including me.

Maybe spider bites? Definitely an insect bite of some sort
