Family trip to Center Parcs for the weekend. We have planned to cook as a group for all 3 evening meals and one party has food shopped for this. They are going to be setting off around 11am tomorrow but it’s not possible to check in to the lodge until 4pm, so the chilled food will be out the fridge for 5 hours. It’s going to be a really warm day tomorrow at 25 degrees and there is meat, dairy etc included in the food shop.

We’re travelling later in the day and leaving at 3pm, so we’ll be able to put all the food in the fridge once we arrive and it would have only been out for probably less than 2 hours that way.

WIBU to insist we pick up the chilled food tomorrow morning from them? They only live 5 minutes away. We could keep it in our fridge all day and bring it along with us rather than having to have it sit out, even if they keep it in a coolbox

YANBU and seems like an easy solution.

MereDintofPandiculation · 05/09/2024 20:37

I’d have thought it’d be ok in the coolbox if they put a couple of frozen cold packs in there

itsgettingweird · 05/09/2024 20:38

Seems like a great solution.

But more importantly - where are you where it's going to be hot and sunny?!

It's pissing buckets here and forecast to do so all week

Do you have to "insist"? Could you not just suggest it, or is there some reason you think they won't agree to it?

Ponoka7 · 05/09/2024 20:57

When I used to go camping, I'd freeze what I could and it would keep everything else cold. Go with your solution.

😂😂

I live central south coast. That just seems wrong to me.

Only joking - I'm glad your going to have great weather and I love CP.

We had a months worth of rain in a day here. In fact I don't think it's stopped raining since January 🤷‍♀️😂

Im Yorkshire and heard today were in for a ‘heat wave’ tomorrow. Not actually looked at the weather forecast since hearing that on the radio but certainly what was said.

Depends what they're planning for storage. When we go camping I freeze a 12 pack of water bottles and chuck in the cool box with the food. They're always still frozen 2 days later and keep food cold for the weekend. When they do defrost we drink them.

So it is possible they'll be able to keep stuff cold, but on the other hand, it would absolutely be easier to put it in your fridge, so yanbu to suggest it.

hby9628 · 05/09/2024 21:14

I'm in mcr. We are on for 25 degrees tomorrow. Yay!

I think if things are in a cool box for 4 hours with ice packs they will be fine ( I say that as someone who does get anxious about food temps) but if you want to collect everyone's stuff and take it with you that's fine too.
