DPD not following delivery instructions.

Ds ordered something and it was being delivered by DPD.

He requested it was left outside our front door (flats)

This is on the message trail they sent and acknowledged. They said they'd leave it at his designated delivery preference.

Turned up today didn't wait very long, took parcel and have said to collect.

DS was in the flat!!!!

Ds has a physical disability hence not being able to get to door in the short time delivery drivers will wait (and I understand why because their delivery slots per parcel are often ridiculous)

Luckily it's been left fairly close by and I can collect on my commute tomorrow.

But WIBU to request a refund of the delivery cost?

If I was a delivery driver I wouldn’t leave it outside either. Sure some do, but if it’s stolen or claimed to be then they are the one to be stung!

I think everything I ever have had delivered by them ends up at the ‘collection location’ which is about a 30 minute round trip on foot.

I suspect they don’t even try to deliver.

If you’ve told the company that outside is your safe space, then the risk is all yours. The delivery people have delivered according to instructions, if it gets stolen afterwards, it’s your problem and your loss.

Yes request a refund.

But also log in to the DPD app and go to settings and scroll to Delivery Addresses, select your address then scroll to Preferences and slide the toggle for more time. This will let the driver know to wait longer.

It's not outside. It's inside our flats.

And ds was in. He got to the door as they disappeared down the stairs with his parcel in hand and as he has a physical disability couldn't go after them!

Plus they acknowledge they'll leave it where asked.

No one has ever not done this before.

Once we had 3 cards delivered (we tried to deliver but you weren't in!) when ds was in without even ringing the bell!!!

A week before lockdown.

A disability aid.

Tbf the company were accommodating when I explained because they weren't doing to re deliver or let us collect.

In that case I didn't ask for refund because they did actually try and go out of their way to accommodate us - but they did cause the issue in the first place 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
