Taking time off work for court ??

Hi I’ve got to attend court next month , I only work a few days a week ( have 4 children and a baby in Creche ) I have no one to help me with the baby so he goes to Creche for me to work . The court date falls on a day I work . I have no holidays left to take and I cannot afford to take a day off unpaid and pay for his Creche at the same time . I’m a single parent on low income , reason for court is domestic abuse so I’m the victim here . I find it unfair I have to take a day unpaid and pay for childcare when I didn’t do anything !? I can’t swap shifts etc either . Did anyone get any financial help ? Thanks 😩

Not popular on here, but if you phone in sick will you still get paid?

Have you actually spoken to your manager?
They may be able to still pay you that day. Sometimes certain circumstances you can get the day off but still be paid.
You need to talk to them.

If you fall under these categories you can claim some expenses. Not sure how it works for family court if it's that https://www.gov.uk/going-to-court-victim-witness/expenses-for-going-to-court

My OH works for the Citizens Advice Witness Support service and I just asked her. Contact the CAB Witness Support service and explain the situation and they will support you through this. This includes paying for the child's creche. She also says Women's Aid will additionally support you.
