To ask about impetigo

Posting for traffic- sorry!

3 months ago DS5 had impetigo for which he needed oral antibiotics as the cream didn't work. All fine and cleared within a week of this.

Today DD8 has been diagnosed with impetigo by the GP. None of us have had any symptoms since my son was clear, and the incubation period certainly isn't 3 months!

Any thoughts? Just a coincidence or have we done something wrong?! Interestingly both developed impetigo in the days after returning from holidays to different places but both involved a lot of swimming.

When my son got impetigo I chased it for months and months, it took sooo long to finally see the end of it. Washing machine was on constantly. It’s super contagious, so I don’t know that you’ve done anything wrong… you just have to wash everything a LOT on high temps, afaik.

Thanks Doliveira. I'm just confused that my son has been clear for almost 3 months, and now my daughter has it. Surely the bacteria can't live that long on surfaces (that have of course been cleaned many times)!

My child got it at school. It does the rounds sometimes.

Its likely just a coincidence
