My 3YO DS is profoundly disabled. We want to keep him with us forever if we can. But the reality is at some point he will almost certainly need residential care, especially as he gets bigger and stronger. He is already extremely aggressive.
Does anyone have experience of paying for care for a disabled child in Scotland?
Would we be unable to have any savings/assets beyond 16k as they would have to go to his care?
Would this still be the case once he turns 18?
We have a newborn now and I would like to be able to put money away for both DC. But I am not sure if that will be possible beyond a set amount if DS ends up in residential care.
Please be kind. I am not trying to get out of paying for anything. I am just trying to understand our situation. We love our DS so much, but we are still coming to terms with how his health has impacted how we hoped our family’s life would be.
Thanks for any advice.
