Sleeping on the floor question

Hi ,
My partner and I used to live in a 1st floor flat, and have already been sleeping on the floor for a long time. However, recently we have moved to a banglow (all ground floor). Since the weather is changing, the floor is becoming colder and a little uncomfortable.
We like to be able to sleep on the floor if we can tolerate it. We would like to avoid bed or thick mattress.
Anyone else doing the same? Do you have any advice for us about warming the floor? The floor has carpets. Will placing plastic under the carpet help?

The floor was not uncomfortable when we are living in a 1st floor flat. Now that we are in a banglow and the weather is changing, it is starting to become uncomfortable.
Anyways, I think we will have to make changes to our bed as suggested by borninabarn and a few others.
