Sara cox advert

Is anyone else getting an ad pop up featuring pictures of Sara Cox with a bruised face? I'm sure it's fake but it distasteful at best. I'm not clicking on it.

Surely mn should be monitoring who they let advertise?

No idea but I see she’s got a book out now. Are all authors just being pushed off the bookshelves for celebrities now? There’s no end to their greed.

Offcom · 02/09/2024 10:00

I just blocked it on another website! It takes you to a site that’s trying to pass itself off as BBC News. But no longer have the ad to report it to Google (which served it on the other site)

OuterSpaceCadet · 02/09/2024 10:20

Wtf yes I just noticed this and now, opening this thread, I get shown two different pictures. So three different images of a bruised SC in total so far .Really fucking weird and grim. And totally inappropriate for this site. Could be so triggering for some women. If I report your post op, MNHQ might take a look at what is going on?

redalex261 · 02/09/2024 10:22

Me too, also Jeremy Clarkson with bruised face!

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 02/09/2024 10:23

I thought that was just me!

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 02/09/2024 10:28

I’ve reported the advert to google.
I don’t see SC but others- I am not in the UK. It is a US company who is running these ads. Horrible.

I thought this yesterday! Ghost writers must be doing a good trade though, all these stories to write so a famous person can stick their own name on it and pretend they did the work.

Offcom · 02/09/2024 10:53

I hope this link works, it’s where you can report the ad to Google for breaking its policies.

AgileGreenSeal · 02/09/2024 10:54

Yes I saw it. Awful.
I’ve emailed [email protected]

Crikeyalmighty · 02/09/2024 10:56

Yes mumsnet- it's not an ok advert

longdistanceclaraclara · 02/09/2024 11:19

I've reported my post so hopefully HQ will pick up on it. Its horrible.

HerVagestyTheQueef · 02/09/2024 11:20

I’ve seen this today too. Grim.

longdistanceclaraclara · 02/09/2024 11:25

It's now switched to Georgia Toffolo.
6 images in a 30 post thread.

TheClawDecides · 02/09/2024 11:26

There's a thread in Site Stuff.

It's pretty obvious MN haven't allowed this ad.

Glitterbiscuits · 02/09/2024 11:27

Ive got the advert on this thread! Sara Cox, Jeremy Clarkson and a blonde lady all with bruises.

SoupDragon · 02/09/2024 11:59

If it's an ad where it has the triangle in the corner (are they Google ads?) then it isn't a MN ad.

CoconutGroove · 02/09/2024 12:22

It’s definitely not a Mumsnet advert as I’ve seen it on other webpages too. It’s horrible to keep seeing it so often.

Waitingfordoggo · 02/09/2024 12:24

I clicked on an article on FB this morning and saw the Sara Cox ad on there and have now also seen it on MN. It’s dreadful. Hope MN are able to get rid of it.

stayathomer · 02/09/2024 12:32

As far as I know Sara cox writes her own books? I always defend celebrity writers, when you think of it if they go into something like drama there’s a huge chance they’re creative and avid readers too. Most aren’t born famous so they had to work their way up too, they’re just lucky they have an automatic following!!

Redglitter · 02/09/2024 12:35

I've seen the Sara Cox one numerous times on another site. It's horrible. It's certainly flooding numerous sites

kitsuneghost · 02/09/2024 12:42

Not seen it
does anyone have a link?

Bellie710 · 02/09/2024 12:47

That Sara Cox advert has being doing the rounds for a while, I have never opened it but it's always on FB.

RossGellersCat · 02/09/2024 12:51

There's a thread about this on Site Stuff, mumsnet HQ are asking people to post either the url of the ad or screenshot them and say the thread they're appearing on. I've seen them all over this morning, horrible stuff.

The only books on physical bookshelves in shops are by people who have a big social media following, it's been that way for years.

Publishers won't touch you without a significant and genuine social media following because it's less marketing work and cost for them.

However, the flip side is more people are self-publishing and therefore keeping much more of the profit.

Namechangeforcheese · 02/09/2024 13:05

Not quite the point of the thread but Sarah Cox is a good writer. As are Rylan and Graham Norton.
