Instead of I feel for you or

I know how you feel.

It's weird and needs to stop!

I first heard this in 2018. I don't like it, it sounds like sexual harassment!!

SummerSplashing · 27/08/2024 20:00

No idea when it started but I too hate it & agree with @MotherOfCrocodiles it sounds like SA, or at least creepy!!

ballsdeep · 27/08/2024 20:02

I hate it. Especially with, ‘I see you’

’I see you. I feel you.’

ergh

Sounds American, not particularly offensive.

Turnitoffnonagain · 27/08/2024 20:05

Most likely another Americanism. I've never had it said to me, nor would I say it.

HappierTimesAhead · 27/08/2024 20:05

Oh god, I say it!

AlisonDonut · 27/08/2024 20:08

'You got this'.

Stop it. Just stop saying this. Especially in TV programmes set 30 years before anyone started saying it.

Aarrgghhndnjdbndfl stop it.

I always think of Prince's 'I feel for you' 😆

I know - I'm going to start reporting to MNHQ!

And much as I love Americans, it irritates me when they say "I could care less."

No, that doesn't make sense! You mean you couldn't care less!

Never heard anyone say that - ever.

'I get you,' or 'I get that' or 'I see that.'

Never 'I feel you.'

longdistanceclaraclara · 27/08/2024 20:45

Appreciate you.

Now THAT is annoying, and you're right, it doesn't make sense.

”I feel you” is from AAVE and means “I agree with you” or “I understand you”.

Around here people might say “I get you”.

😉

kitsuneghost · 27/08/2024 20:51

Sounds patronising

RuthW · 27/08/2024 20:51

I've never heard of this.

blankittyblank · 27/08/2024 20:52

Not as bad as "giving me all the feels" 😫

lordmadresfield · 27/08/2024 20:54

Mine is "a couple" without the "of". We went for a couple drinks/there's a couple books on the subject etc.

Jorvik1 · 27/08/2024 20:57

Never heard anyone say that - ever.

Nor have I in RL but it's rife on MN.

ThePoshUns · 27/08/2024 21:04

Did we? I can't say I've ever heard it. Apart from in a Depeche mode song.
