Phone listening

I was sat talking to someone and I said 'I think....' And all of a sudden siri spoke on my phone and said 'I presumed the same thing'. This has never happened before and it made !e jump! I didn't even activate siri, it just said that when i spoke Was my phone listening?

Yep. We have one of those Google boxes and I hate it, want it gone, but DH loves it🤷‍♀️. Occasionally it spontaneously interjects, associated with whatever conversation is happening at the time, so I presume it’s constantly sitting there listening, no doubt relaying it all somewhere, and I feel uneasy about it frankly. Yet, DH thinks it’s the bee’s knees🫤.

You probably just said something that sounded like Siri's "wake word". I don't use Apple, so I don't know what it is, but the equivalent of saying "Hey, gargoyles are..." sounding enough like "Hey Google" to trigger the process.

Lucky you, I have to shout at my phone when driving and it only responds after "are you F***ing deaf?!"
