To apply for a job even though I’m on holiday during the interview dates?

I’m interested in a job that’s perfect for me, but the interviews are scheduled for the week of the 9th of September, and I’m on holiday from the 9th to the 12th. I’m torn about whether to apply, as I really want the role, but I won’t be available for the interview dates they’ve set.

Would it be unreasonable to apply anyway and mention my availability? Has anyone been in a similar situation? What did you do? I don’t want to miss out, but I also don’t want to waste anyone’s time.

Definitely apply. You'll lose nothing by applying and your enthusiasm could count in your favour. Just be clear that you have a holiday booked on the dates you're away but that you can be flexible either side of those dates. Good luck!

I think it's still worth applying. I applied for a job where I was on holiday during the interview dates (it was February half-term). They arranged an interview for me the week before (it was online).

I also applied for another job recently where I was on holiday on the interview dates, and stated this on the form. I was in a holiday cottage with good Wi-Fi so could have done an interview (it was going to be online anyway) but unfortunately I didn't get offered one.

I had the same issue recently and had the interview over Zoom. Could that be an option?

Hey all, thank you for your comments. I’ll apply and take it from there, appreciate it :)

Unless it's a teaching job which seems to be very rigid aboit interviews it wouldn't put me off applying, things can always change
