Music at beach resort

Can people really not enjoy the sun, beach and pool without crappy eurotrash and ancient ABBA shite blaring out of the hotel speakers all day?

On the bright side, Abba are not calling women 'bitches' and there is no homophobia in their songs.

Regardless of whether or not you like Abba, or even regard them as talented, I agree music should be a personal choice (via headphones) and not foisted on you.

If it's that bad surely it was mentioned on the reviews?

Although 'does your mother know' slightly dodgy

Perhaps it's an attempt to stop people playing their own music without speakers. Better one (bland but inoffensive) track playing in the background than 20 or so people playing all manner of shite on their phones.

I do like ABBA, it’s just not necessary here. Agree re the language too.

That’s a very good point about people playing their own music all over the place instead if there wasn’t any to begin with. That would be a different AIBU!

I’m on a beach and the family behind me are blasting out drum’n’bass. I want to
listen to the waves, the breeze in the trees behind the beach.

Noise pollution.

Beth216 · 26/08/2024 13:11

I agree OP, I find it really hard to concentrate on reading if there's music playing. You want to be able to relax and do what you want, not be forced to listen to someone else's choice of music all day.

I don’t mind some low level “ambient” music at beach resorts - far better than the void bring filled with muthafucka misogyny. Also, music played through phones quite often sounds terrible - like a bee in a fucking biscuit tin! 😡Get decent headphones.

YANBU we stayed at a lovely resort which had one downside and that was the main poolside music. Luckily we had a swim up room and our own pool in a quiet area, but we could hear the music drifting across from the big pool.

It would start at 10am on the dot every day except Sunday when it would start at 12. You could set your watch by it.

Sounds like you need a villa.

All the hotels I've stayed in have had an activity pool with the music and 'games' and a quiet pool without.
