To sell these shoes?

Last week I ordered a pair of shoes in the sale and paid for next day delivery, they were due to arrive on Thursday. On the day a very big parcel arrived and was left in my porch. When I opened it it contained 4 pairs of non sale shoes and an invoice with someone’s name and address that was miles away. The total for the shoes was over £400.

Straight away I called customer services and explained and they said they’d email their customer service team (god knows who they were then?) and arrange for them to send out my shoes and for me to return the other pairs. She said they’d be in touch.

Almost instantly I got an email confirming a new order of the original shoes I’d ordered and that they’d been dispatched. No mention of the 4 pairs that I have.

The next day the pair I’d wanted arrived. But no mention again so I emailed them saying that I’d need a return arranged for the shoes and that I wanted the fee I paid for next day delivery refunded.

It’s been a week now and I’ve heard nothing. How long to I keep the shoes before I can put them on Vinted? The box is big and cluttering my hallway.

What if it the delivery was sent by mistake?
It’s a different story altogether if items are sent to you by mistake. That is, if the order wasn't meant for you, if it was sent to you twice, or if there's extra stuff on top of what you ordered.
In all these scenarios, they are not classed as unsolicited goods, they still belong to the trader and you should try to give them back.
Firms can take you to court to recover their goods, if you were to resist.
You will need to contact whoever sent the goods and ask them to collect them. This shouldn't cost you anything or inconvenience you in any way. You should also give the company a reasonable deadline to collect the items, of say, 14 days.
Make sure you keep written evidence of your contact with the supplier.

Can I keep goods delivered to me by mistake?

If you receive a package you didn’t order, can you keep it? The rules about unsolicited goods and items delivered to you by mistake.

I ordered three pairs of crocs for my kids that didn't arrive. Called them up and they sent out a new order which did arrive. A week after that the original order arrived. Called them up and they told me to keep them so they went on Vinted.
