I've had an issue with over eats today, half a grocery order missing, refused a refund as I've had two messed up orders recently.
I am fighting customer support currently and I brought up that the driver was absolutely not the person listed on the app or the mode of transport listed.
They told me it was fine, all riders are independent contractors and they can hire out their accounts to whomever the choose.
A Google uncovered a newspaper article about this, all Uber contractors are vetted, but they then are able to get anyone to substitute for them.
This then means that someone comes to my door who is untraceable. Modern slavery, safety, exploitation, there are a raft of issues.
So, am I being unreasonable to think that Uber eats should insist that anyone driving for them is vetted and recorded? I know self-employment laws will be making some of this loop-hole but not all of it.
