I volunteer with an organisation that helps people with disabilities(And I am one of those who has been helped by it.)
We have to undergo fire training online which is fine but a manager keeps undermining it by telling volunteers that in the event of a fire they are expected to go in and out of the building rescuing clients.
This is most certainly not what we should be doing and this is why PEEPs and fire doors exist.
I’ve reported it but it’s been dismissed as the correct training is presented in the training package we receive but he’s still giving volunteers(and some staff) the wrong information. And yes he’s deadly serious.
AIBU to expect them to have a word with him about undermining the training we are given. The advice he is giving, which he tells people is an obligation is dangerous even if most are unlikely to follow it.
