AIBU to expect this to be taken seriously?

I volunteer with an organisation that helps people with disabilities(And I am one of those who has been helped by it.)

We have to undergo fire training online which is fine but a manager keeps undermining it by telling volunteers that in the event of a fire they are expected to go in and out of the building rescuing clients.

This is most certainly not what we should be doing and this is why PEEPs and fire doors exist.

I’ve reported it but it’s been dismissed as the correct training is presented in the training package we receive but he’s still giving volunteers(and some staff) the wrong information. And yes he’s deadly serious.

AIBU to expect them to have a word with him about undermining the training we are given. The advice he is giving, which he tells people is an obligation is dangerous even if most are unlikely to follow it.

Anonymous report to Fire and Rescue Authority? It would be especially useful if you had evidence of his advice and response from the charity in writing.

Thanks. I may have to do that. His advice is so incredibly dangerous.

Yes, report it to fire and rescue or even call the fire station who would respond to your building and ask them to do a visit.

Put it in writing to the management, including all of them and HR if there is one. Mention the conflicting advice and also query how insurance would work if any staff are injured due to be told this is mandatory behaviour whilst being showing a training video with the opposite rules.

Thanks for the advice.

I appreciate it.

I’ll follow it and see if I’m any further forward.

It makes me wonder how questionable his judgement is generally.
