To think has cost me

I had an interview today for something that I really really would like to do. It involves a lot of health and safety so I was asked ‘what would you do to ensure health and safety’ I think I made some good points but I completely forgot to say washing hands :( !! I think this has really cost me the chance. Can’t believe it.

Don't worry about it. It's done now. Hopefully, they'll realise you just forgot with interview nerves. If not, another opportunity will come up and you'll definitely remember hand washing next time.

Fingers crossed for you.

Highly doubt it'll cost you consideration. I work in the food industry, we have about 5000 signs all over site reminding us to wash our hands but when we do our yearly food hygiene refresher courses, not a single person out of 400+ employees remembers it when asked what's important to ensure health and safety, it's really common to forget the most basic things but you always remember the most obscure ones.

I really believe that multiple factors come into play such as likeability and a general sense of whether this person is a good fit, gives off good vibes. If they liked everything else I guarantee they will overlook something like this.
You don't lose a job opportunity over one small mis step like this. So relax and cross fingers for you 🤞

Think of it another way, it's a lot easier to train someone to wash their hands than to 'train' the right attitude and experience. If they think you are otherwise right for the job, forgetting to mention such a simple thing will not put them off you.

Good luck, and if you don't get it an even better role is just round the corner for you.
