My husband works away 3 nights a week. Just me and the kids.

Thoughts… We have ran out of cat food and cat is moaning shop is across the road (as in I can see it from my living room) do I leave kids 8, 7 and 5 asleep in their beds to run to the shop and get cat food??

No. Give the cat something else. Tin of tuna?

Comedycook · 19/08/2024 21:31

No!

Do u have a tin of tuna? Can cats eat that? Surely yes

Comedycook · 19/08/2024 21:31

Great minds @pinkfleece

IntrepidCat · 19/08/2024 21:32

Surely you knew when you last fed the cat that you would need to buy more?

Just feed the cat something else tonight and go in the morning.

Elfie23 · 19/08/2024 21:32

Apparently cats like ham too! According to my friends cat anyway 😂

Stoptherideiwanttogetoff24 · 19/08/2024 21:32

You can order groceries from Deliveroo do that, or is there a phone number for the shop you can call and ask them to pop it across the road for you….

Froniga · 19/08/2024 21:33

No. Do not leave your kids asleep in the house while you go to the shop.
Do you have anything in the freezer, chicken, fish fingers etc that you can defrost/cook in microwave. Or a tin of tuna or something. Otherwise cat can wait til tomorrow. Won’t do a usually well fed cat any harm.

HotPotato123 · 19/08/2024 21:33

Is your cat an outdoor cat? If so it’ll be fine not fed for one night as they scavenge outdoors all the time.

Brooklyn99999 · 19/08/2024 21:33

Feed the cat some plain chicken or order a delivery off Uber eats.

Don’t leave them asleep in their beds, if one wakes up and you’re not there they will be terrified.

You do know deliveroo doesn’t operate everywhere??

Mischance · 19/08/2024 21:35

Phone the shop .... explain your predicament .... ask if they could pop a can of cat food over.

Funinthesun20 · 19/08/2024 21:35

I couldn’t do it, in reality kids would be fine.

Just saw my next door neighbours 16 year old getting dropped off. Called her, and asked to pop inside and wait while I ran over the road!

Thanks!
Cat apparently hates my nice Sainsburys TTD ham 🙄

Shop is across the road, not very different to being at the end of along garden. The children are asleep in bed, they will be ok. Pop out very quickly and get cat food. For goodness sake don't forget your keys though.

WildCherryBlossom · 19/08/2024 21:42

Ah good. Glad all worked out.

😱😱😱

DrinkElephants · 19/08/2024 21:56

No especially as there’s things like deliveroo now that will deliver

DreamTheMoors · 19/08/2024 22:01

Look in your fridge.
Scrounge around in there for something.
Cats like eggs. Scramble some eggs.
They like meat.
They looove tuna.
Any leftovers will do for one night.

JackGrealishsCalves · 19/08/2024 22:08

These threads do make me lol.
What do people think will happen in this 5 minute window it takes OP to run over the road?
Kids in bed, all primary school age so not tiny babies. Take your keys and phone and all is fine, just try not to step out in front of a 20 ton truck.
Surprised someone hasn't suggested you phone round relatives or friends to come round whilst you pop out or wake them all up to come out to the shop with you 🤣

ThatFlightyTemptress · 19/08/2024 22:16

So ridiculous! “NO DON’T GO” 🙄🙄🙄
So true, an axe wielding maniac is probably waiting for you to go out so they can start a fire in the lounge and take your children prisoner. Lordy.
