To think this was a dig at me when he said this??

I was at a kids party today and they had a balloon model/magician. I’m quite close with a mum and dad of my daughter’s friend. They know I’m currently looking for work.

the magician said hands up if your mum and dad are lazy and the kids were laughing. My Dds friend said to her dad ‘you’re lazy’ and he went ‘I wish I was’ ‘I’d get paid more if I was lazy’ then repeated it and like went to nudge me like he was implying it at me. AIBU?

You are overthinking this.

KrisAkabusi · 17/08/2024 14:24

No, I can't see how it's a dig at you.

Bellsandthistle · 17/08/2024 14:24

What? Surely he was just alerting you to the joke he made about himself? I don’t see how this is about you. Are you sensitive about being on UC or something?

Turophilic · 17/08/2024 14:25

How did you find something to be offended at in that?

EG1 · 17/08/2024 14:31

As they know I’m out of work and looking. He talks a lot about his job and providing for his family. I just feel he sees me as ‘less than’

Maybe that's how you currently think of yourself, even tho it's not true & are sensitive to anything that may fit that 🤔

I think is about your feelings about yourself. Very closely he wasn’t digging at you.
