Jury duty-expenses

putting in AIBU for traffic

I’ve received a citation for jury duty for high court (scotland if it makes a difference) it is starting on a monday. In the past you use to phone the night before and if you were to attend court you would listen to the charges and then the ballot would be done while you were there and you were either selected for the jury or not. even if not selected you could claim your expenses back for missing a day of work. Since the pandemic the ballot has been done remotely so when phoning the night before you will either be told not needed or to wait for a phone call. my question is if you wait for the phone call and are not selected can you still claim lose of earnings for that day? I’m not allowed my phone on at work, they won’t make an exception and they will give my shift to someone else if i possible won’t be there. my work don’t pay me for jury duty and I can’t afford to lose the pay.

Sorry if i haven’t worded any of that very well!
