Sorry if there’s already a thread I couldn’t see one. Is anyone else concerned? I don’t think I will cope with lockdown with a two year old!

There's no question of a lockdown.

NAndJIsLockingDown · 16/08/2024 15:16

Anyone who isn't concerned is just burying their head in the sand.

This is the 2nd mpox outbreak as long as you aren't a man who has sex with men (not my phrasing but the WHOs) then you should be fine.
As for lockdown coming back it won't happen for a couple of reason
1, people will not comply after the covid lockdowns
2, the government can't afford it
3, there's been many much more dangerous outbreaks such as the ebola (has between a 40% to 100% mortality rates) outbreak in Africa that haven't triggered uk lockdowns.
The WHO are fear mongering to try and push their pandemic treaty (which has failed twice because it's a massive power grab) and the gutter press is helping them just as the did with covid

It’s not going to result in a lockdown. Mpox is primarily spread through prolonged physical contact with infected people. Avoid prolonged physical contact with strangers who might be infected and your risk of being infected is miniscule. It’s not like Covid, where we didn’t initially understand transmission and then discovered it was primarily airborne and thus very contagious.

The myth that mPox only affects homosexual males has been disbunked.

Stop reading nonsense on the internet, OP, and just use your common sense. There aren't going to be any lockdowns, FFS. Not even our new, naive Government is that stupid.

By whom?
Also I didn't say homosexual men the phrase used by the WHO was men who have sex with men

MyOtherHusbandIsAWash · 16/08/2024 15:58

My only concern is if any kids get it. I can see it going through a nursery or junior school rather effectively.

SpringKitten · 16/08/2024 16:00

The most you might get is a quarantine for people who’ve spent time in afflicted regions.

there won’t be another lockdown.
