Mystery over shoes!!

Any psychics on here? I really want to know what happened to my shoes! I have an almost brand new pair of Birkenstocks, only worn a couple of times. I left them by the back door (inside) last night.
My mum came to stay and it was a warm evening so the back door was left open on and off. I locked up last night before bed and my mum stayed up later.
This morning I found my birkies in the garden chewed to shreds by foxes!
I think my mum must have put them outside, why I don't know... I know I certainly didn't! Or she opened the back door after I went to bed and a fox came in and took them?!
She swears she didn't put them outside. I'm so upset and confused.
Any woo people know what happened?

A fox took them while the door was open?

Doggymummar · 15/08/2024 07:01

We had a fox stealing garden shoes. They were usually just outside the back door.

bwa · 15/08/2024 07:06

Possible I suppose a fox took them, but both? They were inside the house. I was sat in the garden mostly so I would have noticed.
It would have indeed been a very sly fox to dash in and out with two shoes without being seen.

Are you 100% sure they weren't moved outside and out of the way by someone at some point during the evening?

Didimum · 15/08/2024 07:14

I’m not really seeing the big mystery here if I’m honest. The shoes were right by a door and was continually being opened all evening. Something got them and you didn’t notice.

WearsblackLoveschocolateAvoidspeople · 15/08/2024 07:17

This is the sort of thing my mum
would do and forget but swear blind she had no part in but she does sadly have dementia though.

bwa · 15/08/2024 07:23

It's the kind of thing my mum would do and then deny as I was very annoyed.
It's also possible a fox came in and took both, but I was right by the door all evening as it's off the kitchen.
Either way, that's £150 down the drain 😫

Maybe something like this happened...

i have tooth marks in my EVA Birks where my garden vixen has reached around the door and grabbed them. She did drop them when she found they weren’t very tasty

Cubs, however , will chew and chew …

Our hose is more of a sprinkler now

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 15/08/2024 07:51

This really wasn't the mystery thread I was hoping for.

I feel deceived, OP.

Morethanthis71 · 15/08/2024 08:06

I've lost many a shoe to a garden fox. Irritating and I feel the loss of your birks in particular. I hope you can solve the mystery today.

bwa · 15/08/2024 10:27

Sorry @FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee! Not so exciting. I suppose I wanted to know if it was my mum or a fox really did come into my house!

Thank you @Morethanthis71. So disappointed. It's such a waste of money.

Thank you @Morethanthis71. So disappointed. It's such a waste of money.

I know :-( I love birks so I feel your pain.

My massage therapists dog got hold of my shoes during a massage and chewed them to pieces. My vintage gabor sandals. I was gutted.

bwa · 15/08/2024 13:13

@Morethanthis71 omg! Your glitter sandals! I hope your therapist compensated you somehow?

Just be glad it was your shoes and not your pet rabbits :( :(

Westfacing · 15/08/2024 13:34

It's also possible a fox came in and took both, but I was right by the door all evening as it's off the kitchen.

But you say you left them inside last night, then you locked the door, so why do you need to say you were by the door all evening, indicating that you would have noticed a fox coming in. I think maybe you're not really sure that they were inside.

IF they were inside when you locked up, then your mother must have opened the door sometime after you went to bed!

Westfacing · 15/08/2024 13:44

I understand your loss.

I had some lovely pink leather moccasins, quite pricey and new - sitting in the garden slipped them off and they were next to my feet. An unknown cat came in and was walking around being friendly when all of a sudden it grabbed a moccasin and legged-it!

Went out searching and never found the shoe, or the bloody cat!

bwa · 15/08/2024 16:49

@Westfacing omg! That's so horrible! What is it with animals and shoes? They must like the smell of the leather.

@Makingchocolatecake Oh, I am sorry. That is truly terrible. You are right. They are only material things..
Sorry that happened to your pets 😢

definitely the fox.
DP’s grubby slides were taken from just by the bedroom patio door and found outside with tooth marks the next day.
