Worried I’ll be in trouble now with the council?

Called the council today as I could no longer be in due to emergency appointment. I both emailed and then called to let them know and the lady I spoke to said that’s fine, she would inform the tenancy officer and they’d be in touch to rearrange.

however the tenancy officer has still turned up for inspection and has left a note saying im in breach of my tenancy agreement as they couldn’t obtain a reply at their visit.I’m worried now. I have got this property after a bad time in my life so it’s made me anxious

Stop worrying. If you had a proper emergency it couldn’t be helped and it can be rescheduled. The message you left to inform the housing officer was sufficient, she obviously just didn’t get the message in time before her visit.

Tell the officer you spoke to that lady, presumably you have her name or email? They shan't penalise you surely if you told them already. Just ring them, explain you cancelled and tell them when your next free to receive them.
