Excruciating period after delivery

Has anyone experienced this? I, thankfully, never had overly painful periods, paracetamol on days 2-3 was about the worst it got. Flooding, oh yes, but never too painful. In addition, I always had ample spotting warning 48 hours ahead, they never came out of the blue.

Had a baby by C-section in February. I had one huge, but not too painful period 5 weeks ago. I'm just about due one (I'm not particularly regular due to PCOS), it hasn't started yet, but OMG the pain! It's like early to mid labour (C-section happened after failed induction). 100% not pregnant, 'D'H is in an epic dog house and has been for quite a while

Has anyone experienced this? Any remedies? Do I bother with GP?

I have - don't remember it after my first two babies, but third time around - periods returned after about 12 months, very painful and unexpectedly heavy.
I haven't seen anyone and by the fourth one it's starting to settle down to more what I remember. Not fully regular yet - first three were 50 odd days apart each time. This one better. If the irregularity continues I'll consider peri menopause but so far still waiting to see. I'm young for peri.

I'm 38, so it wouldn't have been unheard of peri-wise, however, my hormone levels are still very high due to PCOS, and without any other symptoms, I don't think that's what it is.

Fingers crossed it will pass after a few cycles like yours.
