Driving across my lawn

LucyBetts · 12/08/2024 12:24

We live in an end house with a drive access at the side for our neighbours.
Our neighbours are fine but the delivery drivers drive over the grass at the front of our house and have done ever since we moved in.
We are on a new estate and this driving across our grass is driving me nuts! I have put solar lights along the lawn edge but the drivers have gone over these and broken them. I have asked the driver in question to replace them and shown him the doorbell evidence of him doing it and he just thinks that I am looking down on him because of his job and skin colour (Fuming!!!)
How can I stop people driving across the corner of my lawn? I cannot put a fence up as it is expressly forbidden in our deeds.
Can I put cat spikes or bird spikes along the edge of the lawn or would that get me into trouble when the drivers end up with tyre damage?

Large plant pots.

A few boulders? Large enough for drivers to see so any damage is down to their stupid driving,

This, I think it's the only way sadly. Or park your wheelie bins at the end of your garden.

Edge it with ducky stones or raised paving blocks. Send the evidence to the courier company and ask for compensation- yoi won't get much, but it'll stop the drivers.

Penguin bollards

some hefty stones and pots. I’d contact the company the driver works for to get them replaced

Boulders for sure.

Plus they look quite nice.

I had this, I put a massive concrete plant pot with a shrub in it on the corner. Big enough to make a serious dent if it was driven into, which funnily enough it wasn’t. I think the issue with spikes is they’re not very visible, and they’re clearly put down to cause damage. My flowerpot was just a decorative feature…

If they’re in a branded van and you know who they work for I’d complain to their employer as well.

I had the same problem with Amazon drivers so although it's a bit of a pain I put 2 wheelie bins out each day so they can't use my garden to turn round in ...happy to say it's worked!!!

Complain to thier management.

We had an issue on a shared driveway years ago so my DH put boulders around the edge of o it lawn. It did work but caused an argument initially with our neighbours (who were the culprits!)
