Clothes coming out of washing machine with stains on randomly!!!

Every now and then, a few items of clothes will come out of the washing machine with a small brown stain on them that wasn’t there before the wash and will not then wash out.
WTF is this? It’s so annoying. I use a dettol washing machine cleaner bottle every couple of months to try and keep it all clean inside the drum.

I’ve switched from liquid to powder for a bit in the hope of avoiding the cloudy stains I’d been getting on clothes.

I'm very confused how to vote on this poll OP 🤣

CityofRojas · 09/08/2024 14:01

Probably sun cream. That’s what happens to mine. It sort of sets the stain. Or there’s black slime in the seal of the door. The dettol washing machine doesn’t go there

Reallybadidea · 09/08/2024 14:03

This happened to me and it was the bearings going. It gradually got worse and I had to get a new machine 😞

neverbeenskiing · 09/08/2024 14:04

This happened to us. Has your washing machine also started being really loud? In our case it was due to the drum being knackered and we ended up having to replace the machine.

bluecomputerscreen · 09/08/2024 14:05

yep mechanical failure. time for a repair (or new washer)

Redwineandcheeseplease01 · 09/08/2024 14:06

Oh bum. Was hoping it was something I hadn’t realised needed extra cleaning rather than needing to replace it 😬

also check that you don't have a small item (sock!) in the folds of the door seal...

or a rusty coin.

Have a look around the door seal.Use a fine cloth and wipe under and in the seal.I had the same problem and the seal had brown residue coming from it.Took me ages to clean it then I put the machine on machine wash setting. The problem is solved thankfully.

Mistymorin · 09/08/2024 14:14

Sounds like the bearings have gone, new machine I'm afraid. One thing I have learnt is to never overload the machine, engineer told me this and the replacement machine is still going after 8 years (Beko).

BobandRobertaSmith · 09/08/2024 14:32

They are probably rust stains. It could be something stuck in the machine rather than the machine itself eg bra wire or a coin 🤞
