BA changed seats then charged me to move one person back!

Not really an AIBU more of a vent (as I really don't think I am being unreasonable!). I booked flights in December for a holiday later this month. I have just read an email to say that due to operational reasons they have had to change the seats I selected on a flight. We originally had 2 people sat together x3 (so 2 + 2 + 2). I looked at our booking online and BA changed it so two people were then on their own. As there was a space next to one of the single seated passengers and it said I could change at no charge. It wasn't no charge, it was £18. I have paid it as I don't want people sat on their own but have now just got really cross about this. How scammy is that? We paid for the seats chosen, BA moved them and I have had to pay £18 to move people back together again.

So I thought I would call them to see if they would refund this money. Due to high volumes, they aren't taking calls. It would be nice to have the option to stay on hold until someone is free but BA have decided to just cut people off of the call.

So I did an online chat and after being 80+ in the queue, I have been told they can't refund only £18, they'd have to refund all the paid seating on the return flight and I'd need to select the seats again. I am not doing that for the sake of £18.

I know this is first world problems and all but it does seem pretty crap that they can charge me for a seat, move it and then charge me again to want to move it back. Anyone else had this happen?

Why not reselect them and get the refund?
Will only take a minute
