To have a ‘midlife crisis’ age 31

I’ve just finished a long long stint of studying and suddenly feel at a loss and having a bit of an existential crisis where I feel like I’ve woken up and my youth is gone. What advice would you have given your 31 year old self?

It’s a quarter life crisis innit.

Your extreme youth is gone, but you should have far more time on left than you’ve had already, so that’s a good start.

Your question is too broad for advice (other than sort out a financial plan), but it sounds like you need some support to start moving forward. What appeals to you? Talking to friends / therapy / coaching / an organisation like career shifters… if you just finished college do they have a counselling service.

Action produces change so whatever you do, keep doing stuff, don’t shut yourself away.

I got my midlife crisis in early at 29. Left a job, took a year out to study, made a slight change career-wise. Great decision, and has saved me having one over a decade later.
