What is causing my pain?

I’ve had severe right sided stomach pain for several days now. I sometimes get severe left sided pain too. No amount of painkillers are helping and no other symptoms. Gp won’t see me until next week.
Any ideas of what to try for relief in the mean time?

Have you clearly told the GP Surgery that it is severe pain for days now? Try ringing 111 and also see if your symptoms match appendicitis (assume they don’t if you also get this on the left).

CinnamonTart · 06/08/2024 20:55

You should call 111 - they’ll ask you a series of questions and decide whether you can wait to see your GP, need to see their out of hours GP or whether you should go to A&E.

Pain from organs can move around a bit so you should definitely be checked out.

I clearly stated that it has been severe and prolonged but they still said that’s all they had. I hadn’t considered appendicitis so I will ring 111

Have you called 111 - what did they say? I’m so sorry you’re not feeling so good.

JanglyBeads · 06/08/2024 22:20

Am very surprised they didn't consider appendicitis!

Seabreeze18 · 06/08/2024 22:25

It could be kidney stones?

CinnamonTart · 06/08/2024 23:09

Or gallbladder ...

Ginger124 · 06/08/2024 23:12

If it's up and under the rib cage go to hospital, gallstone pain doesn't last this long and when it does it's something to worry a&e about.

If it's in the guts and been going on for a few days go to hospital as it could be your appendix or ovarian torsion which is something to worry A&E about

EsmeSusanOgg · 06/08/2024 23:33

Could be one of a few nasties:

Gallbladder issues
Kidney issues
Pancreatitis
Aortic aneurism
Appendicitis

It could be some kind of inflammatory bowel conditions. Or an ovarian cyst.

It could also be gas or a stomach bug.

If it is severe, call 111 or ask for an emergency/ urgent GP appointment. They needed to check you out to rule out the emergency problems.

I'm not. I had it for nearly a week( as well as a psoas abscess) and was sent away from both our of hours doctor ( as no appointments at my own) and A&E ( said groin strain)before being rushed in with the sepsis after it burst and ending up in hospital a month

Miaowm · 07/08/2024 19:36

Gp has arranged an urgent blood test and scan - suspected gallbladder infection and stones. Thanks everyone
