Has anyone been to see The Rod Stewart Story? It features a Rod impersonator (endorsed by Rod himself apparently) and looks like a fun evening out.

I’m a massive Rod Stewart fan and have seen him live every decade since the 70’s but the last time was in 2014. On his most recent UK tour, I couldn’t justify the cost of the tickets and now he’s getting older, he won’t be touring as much.

My AIBU is should I go to the musical or hold out for a lottery win so I can see the real Rod Stewart again? Some friends saw him in Manchester last year and said they didn’t feel he was good value, lots of musical interludes and the backing singers did all the heavy lifting.

Ditto.
I've seen him live.. but now his voice just isn't the same.. so l don't think I'll be seeing him anymore...
I'm trying to get someone to go see The Rod Stewart Story with me.
But not many of my friends are fans.
Might have to give it a miss.

I took my mum a few weeks ago. I thought there might be more talking about the life of Rod. But it was just a man singing his songs. He did well. And my mum enjoyed it. We took her to see the man himself several years ago. It was well worth it if you get the opportunity but for the price it was good fun to see fake Rod.

Ah so it’s not a musical as such then? Just an impersonator?

I went to the Lookalike tribute festival in Anglesey recently and that was fun (David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Elton John, Oasis, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Jones and The Beatles) but very cheap at £12 for an entire day’s entertainment. Some Guys Have All The Luck is approximately £25 a ticket (but compared to real Rod, an absolute bargain!)

I went to see the show a couple of weeks ago with 4 friends. We all loved it (all in our 60’s)
he did talk about rods life between songs - starting from the early 60s. The band were also brilliant and quite a bit of banter between them all.
the last time I actually saw Rod Stewart was an outdoor concert in the 80s - it pissed down all day and I paid a pound for a bin bag ☺️🤣

I am also ancient and I saw Rod for FREE in 2004 at the Olympic Torch concert on the Mall. My brother lived in London at the time and got 4 tickets through a ballot. I took my little girl who was 9 and super excited to see McFly. Rod did 3 songs and Ronnie Wood came on for Stay With Me. I have seen him in the 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's but not since 2014 and I just can't afford to see the old fella again.
