I know there's lots of threads on the current state of England and that any one I want any conversation with agrees the actions of the few but loud thug mobs is abhorrent - I'm not asking for any different opinion on this.
So I wanted to ask what I can do? Thankfully the riots have come nowhere near my local area, though there's suggesting one may come this way. If they had, I would go and help the clean up the next day. I would consider joining a peaceful counter grouping (to protect buildings etc) but I'm also not sure this is helpful in terms of the police (more people to navigate) and I have a young son I want nowhere near any of it.
Obviously on a wider and longer term level DH and I teach ds and anti-racist, anti-prejudice perspective on life, but immediately I feel disempowered and a bit ashamed to be in anyway associated with those who are rioting (as in, I am white and British) even by the most tenuous of links.
Is there an agreed best place to donate to restoration etc? Is there anything else I can do?
