I feel like a horrendous person

Horrible train journey and we got stuck at a station and I was 30 minutes from home so I thought I’ll just get an Uber.

I wasn’t expecting there to be a line of taxis outside, as the area isn’t a big city. The taxi driver at the front of the queue got out and I heard him say to someone that they can’t compete with Uber.

And I just felt horrible. That I was contributing to that and I should have taken a taxi.

About 2 weeks ago I got a taxi out of a station and for a 10 minute ride it cost me £17. I just didn’t want to do a 30 minute journey and watch the meter constantly going up and not know how much it would be - but I feel horrible because what if that taxi driver got no other fares that night and didn’t earn anything.

You can agree a price before getting into a taxi, did you not know that?

We don’t have Uber in my hometown and the whole idea of it freaks me out so I’ve never used it.

For a long journey you can’t beat Uber unfortunately. Recently was quoted £60 from Uber and £110 for a taxi.
