Cancer scare loss of appetite

During a stressful period (I thought I had cancer) I completely lost my appetite. I've had tests done but 3 months later I still feel sick all the time and have no appetite, food seems disgusting to me like when you have a sickness bug and in the 3 months I've lost 3 stone. Doctors seem confident there is no cancer and it's anxiety related.

Every day I feel sick and struggle to eat.

Has anyone else anywhere had this?

I struggle to eat when I am feeling very anxious/depressed and end up losing weight. I would try a one of therapy session as you said they thought it was anxiety related and you still seem anxious about cancer.

OP I had this after a breast cancer scare. I got myself so worked up that it caused gastritis. Even after I had my mammogram and it was clear, the tummy upset still persisted.

I felt sick, I was burping over and over, full of wind, couldn’t even lie down flat because of acid burning my throat, couldn’t eat. I felt like I was being strangled, like there was a heavy weight on my chest and I was choking. Then I became convinced I must have stomach cancer.

It took about ten months in total to resolve the problem. It didn’t go away by itself so after five months I was treated with lanzoprazole for six weeks and that knocked it on the head. I felt delicate for another 3-4 months after the treatment but it gradually settled down.

Currently in the same situation... though mine came on acutely 3 weeks ago. Horrendous pain and pressure in my stomach, spreading to my shoulder and neck at times. I cannot eat..feel like I'm choking and food just won't go down...lost loads of weight already (and I am slim anyway) I'm also very dizzy and have had to lie down fast to prevent fainting.

I've been put on Lansoprazole but am struggling to get the tablets down, and have endoscopy next wednesday... I was referred under the 2 week cancer pathway due to the symptoms, weight loss and being over 55 .

I am scared stiff, because I am never ill, and don't suffer with anxiety or anything... it came out of the blue. I really hope it's really nasty gastritis and we can sort it soon as I'm really unwell and struggling. I've already seen the doctors 3 times and feel awful for doing so... as I don't want to be a time waster but IFEEL like I might die!

Assuming it's not cancer, it's certainly knocked my red wine and fizzy drinks habits on the head... I eat a fab healthy veggie diet but obviously that's not compensated! I'm so hungry but full at the same time and just cannot eat!

I really hope yours resolves soon xxxx
