Husband and I were pushed/hinted at doing a get together at our house for FIL birthday for immediate family only, MIL assured me she would help. So far her help has extended to inviting extended family so numbers are now double. I asked her to get some photos of FIL from his younger days all she has done is send 4 photos of photos over what’s app.
Feel like we/me ( husband isn’t the most helpful) have really been taken advantage of. Even if she had offered to help with additional costs as she has invited extra people but no she is clearly expecting us to pay for it all. More than happy to ensure FIL has a good birthday but some acknowledgment from MIL would be nice.
