Having tried to make a couple of credit card purchases this morning (John Lewis) and seeing no issues on the app, I messaged to find out if there was an issue. I was told servers are down and a fix is being worked on with no timeline given. The adviser told me to try again in a few hours. As servers had been down for a couple of hours I asked why there was no notification when logging in, and whether users would receive notice when servers were back online, to be told there would be no message sent. Am I wrong in expecting a notification instead of the discomfort of potential ‘card declined’ messages?
YABU - keep trying to buy chocolate until accepted
YANBU - NewDay should inform users when the issue has been fixed by putting a notice on the app
