And I think I'm one of them! I get no-one is going to come on a forum and say life is fab! But I've noticed people on here tend to
Have tendencies towards depression and anxiety
Be introverts
Tend to be over thinkers and worriers!

Not sure if that is the MN type but it is certainly me 😭

Feelingmentallyunsettled · 30/07/2024 03:14

And me too!

Poettree · 30/07/2024 03:16

I think people who spend a lot of time online like the chat and conversation with the ability to walk away and get on with life, it's a fun non committal way to 'chat'. maybe that's part of it.

Thunderandlightningisfrightening · 30/07/2024 03:39

Yeah true. I think that's a point. I think mumsnet makes me over think.

I’m a sad, lonely loser so the only human contact I have is on MN

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/07/2024 03:47

I think you may be overthinking this and worrying about it.

I know I am.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/07/2024 03:50

I'm happy as a clam and an extrovert (well, ambivert). I'm also an insomniac and need people to talk to at all hours.

MapleTreeValley · 30/07/2024 03:50

Not me! I'm not depressed, anxious, an over thinker or an introvert but I love it here.

You are not a loser.

I am one of those introverts who despises the drop in and never answers the front door. MN has felt like my safe spot for 10+ years. I can dip in and out at will.

ForGreyKoala · 30/07/2024 04:33

I can be an overthinker, but none of those other traits apply to me.

I'm generally happy and upbeat, love talking to people, am an ambivert - and always open the door when someone knocks!

Catsmere · 30/07/2024 05:03

Given the variety of outlooks and life experiences here, not to mention the number of countries posters live in, I'd say no, it doesn't attract a "type".

autienotnaughty · 30/07/2024 05:14

Hi have we met?

I love mn as it fills a social void in a way that's comfortable for me.

Chrsytalchondalier · 30/07/2024 05:42

Well it's people on the internet interacting online rather than humans in real life, so I guess it's not surprising. We're all a bit bored (I think it depends on the board too, I used to come here for a laugh but it seems pretty intense these days!)

DracunculusVulgaris · 30/07/2024 05:42

I probably fit the 'type' you are referrencing OP - one of life's quiet, reserved individuals, a 'homebody', happiest spending quiet time, in quiet places, doing quiet things with quiet people, preferrably in wide open spaces, surrounded by green and living things!

I avoid bars, pubs, sporting events or anywhere which is loud, noisy or crowded in my leisure time. My work environment is populated by loud, noisy, excitable colleagues, the conversation does not stimulate me and, therefore, MN gives me an escape to engage with those who DO stimulate me on threads and subjects which grab my attention or are focussed on things in which I have an interest.

But I am ND and, outside of employment, choose very carefully, how, and with whom, I want to engage. MN is a perfect fit and I can have vicarious relationships with those who are my 'type'
