I work in an office my dp works from home . Came home tonight and didn’t feel hungry had to make his dinner as apparently he didn’t know how to fry some lamb steaks . Fgs he is 57 I did say that to him he had nothing to say . Aibu to think a grown man can cook his own dinner . I can be at work for 11.5 hrs and still have to cook dinner .

And who cooked his dinner before he met you ?

cupcaske123 · 29/07/2024 20:10

More fool you.

Catza · 29/07/2024 20:10

Why did you have to? You didn’t. You chose to.

Justmuddlingalong · 29/07/2024 20:12

He doesn't have to be able to cook.
He tells you he can't and you do it for him, apparently.

UpUpUpU · 29/07/2024 20:13

I voted yabu for cooking for him. At the very least I hope you showed him how.

Sunnydiary · 29/07/2024 20:14

Please tell us you didn’t do it?

lightsandtunnels · 29/07/2024 20:14

He's being lazy OP and you know it. And you're allowing him to be lazy. Next time, tell him to do it himself.

mitogoshi · 29/07/2024 20:14

Has he not heard of google?

Xyz1234567 · 29/07/2024 20:14

Yes you are being unreasonable. I would have just made my own dinner.

Doggymummar · 29/07/2024 20:15

They should be grilled shouldn't they? Either way he could have googled it. Or had a sandwich

Dweetfidilove · 29/07/2024 20:18

This depends on whether you're always lumbered with all the domestic stuff.

I'm guessing you are, as you wouldn't otherwise begrudge cooking something for a loved one. There are things I'll ask someone to cook for me because I can't, or they do it better.

ThatAgileGoldMoose · 29/07/2024 20:25

And if you'd have told him that you'd just worked an 11.5 hour day so no, you wouldn't cook his steaks, what would he have done?

HowardTJMoon · 29/07/2024 20:33

Have his arms fallen off?

Candyapplesandhearts · 29/07/2024 20:44

Give a man a fish, teach a man to fish…

Phhhhhhehwhat · 29/07/2024 21:04

Getting the silent treatment now .

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 29/07/2024 21:05

Send him a link to a cooking website
Job done

Getting the silent treatment now .

But you did cook?

Teach him, or dorect him to Google, don't just do it for him.

EllieRosesMammy · 29/07/2024 21:06

After reading this I've never been happier to have married a chef 🤣

But seriously, you're not being unreasonable, I'd of made him figure it out himself!

LizzieBennett73 · 29/07/2024 21:09

He can rely on you to give in, that's why he does it. You know the answer, OP.

I've got seriously fucked off with DH and his menial task incompetence. I've gone mostly vegan (diabetic) and have stopped making him a completely separate meal - he gets what I'm having or he puts a Charlie Bigham in the oven. The sulking and sniffing has been quite a joy to behold Grin and ironically just makes me even more determined to stick to it!
