What to do with a day off on a hot day?

Weather's beautiful today but I don't know what to do with the day. I'm in Manchester. Any suggestions please?

Tram to Heaton Park, cake & coffee in one of the cafes there. Or, if you fancy going a bit further afield, 40 minute train to Edale from Piccadilly & have a wander around (& if you are up for it, walk up one of the hills).
